The Tulsa food scene has exploded over the last few years, thanks to ambitious and inspired chefs earning national acclaim. From old school favorites to risky new concepts, Tulsa foodies have a front row seat to something of a golden age, and international flavors are leading the charge.

You don’t have to get on a flight to sample mouthwatering Mexican birria or experience a modern take on Japanese homestyle cooking. (In fact, Noche’s birria ramen lets you do both from the same booth.) To experience the chef-made magic for yourself, check out these restaurants delivering authentic flavors from around the globe right here in the Heartland.

Amelia’s Wood Fired Cuisine - A long-time favorite in the Tulsa Arts District, Amelia’s effortlessly blends regional flavors with South American influence for a rich dining experience that delivers the world to your table. Whether you choose a vibrant, social spot in the front dining room, or reserve a table in the quieter, more intimate back dining room, every detail of your experience is executed at a high level. Under the direction of new Executive Chef, Terra Rubio, discipline and creativity bring seasonal menus to life, tapping local ingredients and pairing them with rare and classic wines from vineyards around the world. Their monthly tasting dinners are the perfect excuse for a lavish date night or celebration that helps you expand your palette and knowledge of global cuisine.

Maestro - From the owners of Valkyrie and St. Vitus, this agave bar has created something wholly new in Downtown’s Blue Dome District. This focused concept is a magnifying glass over the dedicated and disciplined craft of agave spirits, from crop cultivation to artisanal distilling to inspired mixology. Every bite and sip are packed with intention and flavor. The dim lighting and organic accents make for a polished yet cozy backdrop of your happy hour or nightcap. Cheers with their ultra smooth daiquiri (done the right way) or satisfy your sweet tooth with their towering corn soft serve. No matter your order, you’re in for an upscale fusion of Latin American and Caribbean flavor.

Doctor Kustom - This bistro at Mother Road Market has earned national attention from food critics and everyday fans alike for their lineup of authentic, handmade Brazilian food. Born out of a food truck concept, this family-run restaurant led by 2024 James Beard Semifinalist, Chef Alexandre Figueira, now boasts the corner spot near the renowned food hall on Route 66. You can enjoy all the rich umami flavors of Brazilian steak with the Thursday-only picanha sandwich. Up the decadence and pair it with their limited availability of fried polenta and passionfruit mousse for a lunch that transports you far from your daily grind. If you want a more intimate, sit-down experience, look out for one of their occasional Chef Dinners to learn more about the culture, tradition and heart behind the menu.

Que Gusto - This family-owned and operated restaurant in Downtown Tulsa creates handmade Ecuadorian food the hard way. Every element of their operation meets the highest criteria, from pasture-raised and grass-fed meats down to biodegradable napkins and non-toxic cleaning supplies. Their menu is time-tested, adapted from family recipes to include locally-sourced ingredients, nourishing the community soil around the roots they’ve planted here. All this intention and grit culminates in a relaxed and nourishing experience for patrons. And, with a recently expanded dining room and patio space, there’s more time and room to enjoy everything on offer. Empanadas and yucca fries are a must for first-timers, but scratchmade desserts and bakery items, fresh fruit juices and smoothies, and weekly specials make every meal exciting (and give you the perfect excuse to keep coming back.)

Noche - This woodfired grill and agave bar has been bringing the flavor and spirit of Mexico City to the Greenwood District since 2023. Here, the ambience is as colorful and energetic as the plates and sips. Chef Marco Herrera has received national attention from the Wall Street Journal for his approach to elevated Mexican cuisine, and Noche even made the New York Times’ top 50 restaurant list in 2024. Whether you come in for brunch with friends or a weekend date night, you can count on the perfect blend of fresh ingredients and smoky flavors, all washed down with exciting takes on agave-based cocktails.

Daigoro - This upscale, waterfront restaurant on Riverside blends ingredients and traditions from southeast Asia to create something fresh and modern. You might recognize the Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese influences on the menu, but what arrives on the plate is an unexpected work of art. The best approach is to get a reservation with friends and fill your table with plates to share. Don’t overlook their thoughtful selection of Japanese and American whiskeys, West Coast and European wines, and craft cocktails. This one-of-a-kind culinary experience unfolds under the red glow of their dragon-shaped LED art installation and is complimented by sunset views over the Arkansas River.

Natsukashii - The Et Al. team became a fast favorite in Tulsa thanks to innovative pop-up events and highly-creative tasting menus. Dumpling Nights became a weekly ritual for Tulsa’s cool class, filling up the Foolish Things venue to capacity with those in-the-know. Butter Bar and Compaignon dinners delivered prix fixe dining experiences that felt like celebrations of food, not stuffy dinners. They were even a James Beard Foundation semifinalist for best new restaurant in 2023. Now, the chef collective is creating a permanent home for their cult following with Natsukashii, a love letter to Japanese homestyle food and the community they’ve built around it. Check out their Instagram for details on their Spring 2026 grand opening.

Gigi’s Kitchen - This South Tulsa spot achieves the impossible, delivering quality and quantity, thanks to the dedication of Chef Gigi. Inspired by the flavors and traditions of her childhood, she has curated an extensive menu of traditional and modern Cantonese cuisine that cures homesickness the way only food can. You can expect heaping portions of delicious dishes made with fresh, natural ingredients in unfussy but comfortable digs. Gigi’s recently added a new menu of Taiwanese bubble teas, perfect for when you don’t want your experience to end at the plate.

White Lion Pub - If you thought pub culture didn't exist in Tulsa, you thought wrong. This British pub, founded and owned by a Liverpool native, Betty Southard, is committed to bringing the community and fare of the Isles tradition to our little corner of the world. The alehouse offers a cozy atmosphere complete with dark wood accents and nostalgic memorabilia from across the pond. Pair your fish and chips or cottage pie with one of the staple English, Scottish, or Irish ales they have on tap. Be sure to look out for their monthly events to get plugged into the warm community here.

Where are you traveling first? There are so many places to explore beyond this short round-up, all built by passionate culinary professionals putting everything on the line to share their unique point of view with Tulsans. That passion not only feeds our city, but drives momentum and innovation in the Heartland.
